Overview:

 

We are looking for a Publishing Administrator to provide administrative support associated with the commissioning, promotion and processing of journal articles for the designated journals (currently the Frontier and Nanoscale Journals) whilst ensuring excellent customer service.

 

Your responsibilities will focus on

 

To carry out editorial and production administrative duties associated with the processing of manuscripts submitted to and published in the Journal(s) assigned, efficiently and in accordance with procedures and deadlines. 

Duties include accurate record-keeping on the workflow article management systems/databases Scholar One and any future article management systems.  

To provide administrative support to the Journal team(s) with a range of commissioning activities. This will include retrieving data from databases, sending mail merges, carrying out times to publication and competitor analyses.

To provide support to the Journal team(s), including assistance with marketing and promotional activities, as required.

To assist the other Publishing Assistants as required, and to collaborate with other administrative, editorial production and journals development staff to ensure the smooth running of the Journal Development and Editorial Production Departments.

To respond to general queries from potential authors in response to commissioning activities.

To arrange Editorial Board meetings, input into papers required and collate and distribute the Agendas and papers according to deadlines.

To be able to handle work of a confidential nature.

To undertake other reasonable duties and projects as required

To ensure that every effort is made to progress RSC Publishing’s strategy for core and new product development, and technical innovation.

 

We are looking for

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

Fluent in both Chinese and English

Previous administration experience is required.

Must be efficient and highly competent in the use of software packages associated with PCs. The role holder should also have the ability to open file attachments of a wide range of software. 

Good organisational and time-management skills are required together with the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.

Good communication skills in interacting with internal and external contacts are essential.

Proven ability to work as part of a team

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in STM publishing would be an asset.

Experience of a database tracking system is desirable.
