Location: Munich, Germany
Enabling low-latency and reliable wireless communications in the Industry is a challenging task. The Network 5.0 Department in German Research Center is extensively commenced in diverse research topics under the umbrella of “Industrial radio”. The goal is to research and expedite the adoption of disruptive technologies into the industrial environment, making Industry 4.0 a reality.
Your Responsibility:
Study different use cases (UCs) and factory configurations, identify the UCs where wireless connectivity is to play a major role
Design an overall network architecture for wireless industrial communications, where part of the network will have to coexist with existing wired infrastructure
Research different techniques and solutions to guarantee reliable and low-latency communications over the wireless links
Attend top-tier conferences, involvement in standardization activities

Requirements & Qualifications:
PhD in Telecommunications or Automation, passionate about innovations and technology
Solid background in wireless communication. Familiar with IEEE 802.x standards and wireless standards of 3GPP
Working experience with at least one of the following protocols, e.g., IEEE 802.11, 802.15.4 or LTE
Strong background in PHY and MAC layer design. Familiar with factory automation process is a plus
Hands-on in network simulation and prototype implementation
Job Duration
The position starts from September 2017, can be tailored for 1 year or more.
