波尔沃位于首都赫尔辛基以东50公里的一个景色如画的古城，坐落在波尔沃河河口。建于13世纪，是继图尔库之后芬兰的第二古城。
早在中世纪，波尔沃就是一个重要的进口贸易中心，坐落在波尔沃河沿岸的一排排红仓房向人们展示了波尔沃的航运史，是旅游者争相留影的著名景点。
老市区是芬兰目前惟一保存下来的中世纪城区建筑，弯曲的街道，狭窄的小巷和低矮的木屋是中世纪城市生活的缩影，被人称为“木制建筑博物馆”。
老市区中的尖拱顶式的大教堂建于15世纪初期，是1809年芬兰第一届议会的所有地。市郊还有许多保存完好的老庄园可供游人参观。

Old Porvoo, with its riverside warehouses, is one of the most photographed national landscapes in Finland and a steady favourite among tourists. Around 1,6 million tourists travel here each year to admire the colourful wooden buildings by the river and stroll on the winding cobbled streets. Old Porvoo is an easy and popular day trip from Helsinki.
Nature
Porvoo's centre opens up to a national urban park, in which beautiful views and natural attractions are available for everyone by foot, bike or paddling on a SUP board. In winter, you can go cross-country skiing, ice-fishing or downhill skiing. The purpose of national urban parks is to preserve urban nature and built cultural environments so that they form a comprehensive, integrated whole. The national urban park in Porvoo was established in 2010 and it extends approximately 10 km south from Old Porvoo, via the river estuary to the archipelago, as well as 8 km east. You get around in the park using streets, walkways and biking routes, pavements and nature walks and by paddling and boating on the river and sea.
